This was such a great moment when two passengers saved more than 30 lives on board after a coach driver fainted during a 17-hour ride in east China. A businessman, Xie Shangpan, 45, is one of the two lifesavers who noticed the bus had swayed to the verge of the highway.
The brave men immediately dashed to the driver’s seat and pulled the bus to a stop before it any accident could happen. The driver had to be recovered with CPR and sent to the hospital.
Mr Xie who was sleeping noticed the bus had banged into the road barriers and quickly ran to the driver’s seat and took control.
Mr Xie told Zhejiang Radio: ‘’The bus was going zigzag like a snake. I didn’t have time to wear my shoes and ran up to see what happened.’’
Mr Xie and another passenger clasped the steering wheel and corrected the course of direction before stopping the bus on the emergency lane. Few other passengers helped forced to carry the fainted driver out of the bus while others called for emergency services.
Mr Xie said: ‘’About three, four passengers performed CPR on the driver until he gained consciousness and they sent him on a stretcher.’’
The driver was sent to the hospital and was confirmed to have no life-threatening risks but he is still recovering in the hospital.
Mr Xie was praised to save lives of all the passengers and Shandong Linyi Transport Company offered him money to express their gratitude but Mr Xie kindly rejected.
