When Rachel Sylvester received a text message, she knew something was in trouble.
And she was right. It was a message asking for help.

The person who texted Rachel was concerned about his neighbor’s dogs – according to him, seven puppies and their mom were in poor condition.
Since he knew that Rachel managed Sidewalk Specials, which is a non-profit organization that aims to rescue abused and abandoned dogs in South Africa, he texted Rachel to go and rescue them.
While the owner did agree to give up all seven puppies, he refused to let go of the mommy dog.
When she first saw the puppies, she was in shock.
They were all extremely malnourished, ill, and had fleas all over them. Based on the state of these puppies, Rachel knew that something had to be done for their mother dog as well.
Eventually, the owner agreed to surrender the mommy dog as well, and her condition was worse than what Rachel had imagined.
With her babies taken away from her, the mother dog was so depressed that she refused to eat anything. Since she was malnourished, the mother dog couldn’t even stand on her own.
She was immediately taken to the Vet, and was given a 50/50 chance of survival.

After staying at the Vet recovering, the mommy dog was brought back to the center where her puppies were staying.
As you can see from the video, these puppies are overjoyed to be reunited with their mother!
Post reunion, some of these puppies were luckily adopted by loving families – only the mother dog and two puppies are staying at the center.
