Healthcare Workers Are Attaching Their Smiling Pictures To PPE For Calming COVID-19 Patients

Contracting coronavirus is itself a stressful experience.

Imagine not being able to see your friends, family members, or any human face until you are cured.

The patients are kept in isolation and even their nurses and doctors come wearing full PPE (personal protective equipment) for keeping themselves safe, which also means covering the majority of their faces.

As a result, poor patients may feel even more distressed. This is why a generous and genius healthcare worker has come up with an idea. They decided to attach their photographs to their PPE so that their patients feel at ease.

Along with a smiling picture of themselves, the healthcare professional has also added their name tag to reassure affected patients that they are in the hands of real people.

The credit goes to Robertino Rodriguez who works at San Diego’s Scripps Mercy Hospital as a respiratory therapist.

He posted a picture of himself in the PPE and a smiling picture of himself attached to his attire and explained his motive in the caption.

Robertino said that he was feeling bad for patients in the ER when he would visit them with a covered face. Then, through this small gesture, he attempted to cheer the patient a little by his comforting and reassuring smile.

His idea motivated other healthcare workers too, who decided it was possibly the best method to calm their patients down and reassure them.

Derek DeVault, a nurse working in Los Angeles, also shared his picture in a similar fashion and appreciated Robertino’s idea.

Derek also presented his gratitude towards healthcare professionals battling on frontlines and appreciated people who are staying at home as well. He ended by saying he was sure it was not easy as well.
