A healthcare worker from Texas has been tied to more than 1,000 unexplained deaths and charged with smothering 12 elderly women he was responsible for taking care of.
46-year-old Billy Chemirmir, who is a suspect in over 1,000 cases involving unexplained deaths, had been working as a home healthcare worker for years.
Initially, the man was charged with suffocating Lu Thi Harris, 81, using a pillow. Recently, however, he’s also been indicted on additional 11 murder charges.
According to the reports, the 46-year-old was responsible for murdering Phyllis Payne, 91, Phoebe Perry, 94, Norma French, 85, and Doris Gleason, 92, in the year 2016 alone. In 2018, he allegedly suffocated two elderly women named Mary Brooks and Rosemary Curtis.
In addition to these victims, the murderer was charged with killing five other seniors who remain anonymous.
Facing 12 murder charges, Chemirmir is being detained in Dallas County Jail with bond set at $9 million.
The investigators also managed to tie the healthcare worker, who previously worked as a nurse in Kenya, to over 1,000 unexplained deaths.
The man was first arrested in 2017 after smothering 81-year-old Lu Thi Harris with a pillow before robbing her of her jewelry box.
Following the arrest, the detectives launched an investigation and connected the healthcare worker to a trend of unexplained deaths and ‘missing’ jewelry.
In one of his most recent murders, Chemirmir stormed the home of a 91-year-old woman and allegedly order her to “go to bed, don’t fight me.”
The 46-year-old then covered her face with a pillow and pressed tightly until she lost consciousness. Fortunately, the rescue services managed to revive the 91-year-old who then told them that the attacker stole her jewelry.
