A woman was left mortified after botched veneers left her teeth looking like piano keys.
26-year-old Aida Azizii from London, UK, was enjoying her trip to Iran when she came up with the idea to get veneers after finding out the procedure would cost her just over $700 for 19 teeth.
Thrilled by the affordable offer and the positive stories of her cousins who had their teeth fixed in Iran without complications, Aida didn’t think twice before taking to the dentist’s chair.
After nine hours, however, the young lady looked in the mirror only to be left terrified by her botched smile and ‘piano key’ teeth.
“I didn’t check their Instagram page, nothing. I trusted them, so I called this doctor and he’s like ‘you can come today at 7 pm,’” she recalled.
As Aida added, the dentist’s assistant began working on her teeth while the doctor was still busy with another patient. He allegedly also advised her to pick the whitest shade for her veneers.
After the assistant left for home, the doctor took over. While Aida realized her teeth were getting more and more uneven at this point, she was hopeful the dentist can fix her smile because he kept on reassuring her everything would be alright.
At 4 am, following nine hours at the clinic, the procedure was finally over and Aida looked in a mirror only to be mortified by her piano key smile.
“He finished my teeth at like 4am and he hands me mirror and I am literally in shock. I wanted to cry but I was so tired because it was like 4 am I just wanted to go home at that point,” she added.
“They look ridiculous – like Tic Tacs, piano keys and the color is ridiculous. I look like a horse.”
On the following day, the 26-year-old once again called the clinic and demanded they fix her teeth. After returning to the clinic, however, the dentist insisted they would have to shave her veneers down even more to fix her smile.
“I reluctantly let her work on my teeth again. I was just in so much pain,” she explained.
Seeing no improvement, Aida reached out to a reputable dentist who blasted her previous doctor’s botched procedure.
“I was told that because they were so big, and the all pressure was on my front teeth, if I had left them untreated, my natural teeth would have eventually fallen out,” Aida said.
While she feels fairly good about her new teeth after a follow-up procedure at the new dentist, Aida admitted her teeth are still too white. She also urged people to be more careful than her when choosing a dentist.
“Don’t be stupid like me – think before you do things. Don’t just randomly get your teeth done – do your research and check their Instagram page,” she concluded.
