20-year-old April Grierson of Liverpool, UK, began feeling itchy as she suddenly developed rashes all over her body last year.

While the young lady initially thought the flareups were a result of the new washing powder she started using on her clothes, switching back to her old brand didn’t make things any more comfortable for her.

After weeks of battle with her itchy skin, April talked to her general practitioner who diagnosed her with scabies and prescribed creams to treat the alleged mite infestation.

Sadly, April’s condition only worsened over time and she was forced to go to the hospital after spotting a lump on her neck.

It is there that the doctors discovered that April was suffering from Stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of blood cancer.

“At first I was trying to work out what I was allergic to. My skin itched day and night from my head to my feet. I was tearing at my skin. I couldn’t sleep and I was making myself bleed, I was red raw,” the 20-year-old recalled.

“I knew it couldn’t be scabies as it’s highly contagious and my boyfriend hadn’t caught it. I couldn’t get a face-to-face appointment because of Covid so I kept sending more pictures but the doctors said I had no rash or distinctive skin marks for them to make a diagnosis.”

She added: “In October I found a lump in my neck that grew quickly. Within three weeks I had an appointment at a specialist head and neck center.

“I was diagnosed with cancer that day after blood tests, CT scans and a biopsy showed I had blood cancer and it was a tumor on my neck.”

Following the shocking diagnosis, April immediately began grueling chemotherapy in a bid to counter the spread of cancer and save her life.

She now faces six months of treatment and is determined to raise awareness with the help of her TikTok videos while battling the disease.

“I’m raising awareness for everything I’m going through because I want people to know they know their body best,” the brave lady concluded.

“If my story helps one person to push for an appointment and listen to their body then I’ll be glad.”
