It was a dream come true for a two-year-old girl from Florida after she underwent a successful pioneering surgery that removed her ‘batman mask’ birthmark.
Little Luna Tavares-Fenner was born with a giant black-colored birthmark that covered her eyelids, giving her the complete batman mask effect.
After undergoing a pioneering form of treatment that is not found in the US, the girl was finally free from a mark that she referred to as the ‘ugly black spot.’
Luna received the pioneering treatment which is renowned as photodynamic therapy in Russia, forcing her mother to undergo countless trips with her in and out of the country.
But in the end, it all came down to a happy ending and amazing results as the successful surgery removed the entire birthmark, allowing the young child to cry tears of joy after looking in the mirror.
Despite her young age, the child could be seen in absolute awe, gushing at her new look.
A total of six surgeries were performed on the two-year-old for the birthmark removal as it was large in size. Now, the child will undergo some cosmetic surgery too to get rid of the remaining faint lines that cover her skin.
Reports explained how Luna was born with a condition known as congenital melanocytic naevus which happens to be a condition of the skin that produces an array of dark blemishes that arise across the face.
During the process of removal, doctors went about injecting a certain drug that accumulates inside the birthmark, causing the tissue of that area to die while new and healthy-looking tissue starts to develop below it.
