A man was charged with assaulting 2 police officers and he bit one lady officer on her arm while breaching the COVID-19 lockdown regulations.
29-year-old, Christopher Hill, who does not have a fixed house, was charged with 2 counts of assault, including one count of the criminal damage and another one of beating emergency worker.
The man was accused of attacking 2 officers in Rochdale at Drake Street. He had allegedly even punched the 2 officers before he bit the lady officer on her arm. He was then remanded in custody for appearing at the Manchester Magistrates’ Court.
The officers tried to explain to Hill that he should refrain from visiting the homes of other people because of the government guidelines. But he punched the officers and then used his teeth to bite the woman’s upper arm.
This comes after the police in the U.K. had been stopping Britons breaking lockdown with individuals sunbathing in Hyde Park and organizing barbecues on Brighton beach.
Some days back, a park in south London was closed after 3000 people went into the park despite the pleas of the government for them to stay indoors.
Due to the incident, the poor officer had to visit a hospital and was discharged later. Ian Hopkins, Chief Constable, tweeted that he could not find words when it came to the behavior of some people.
He added that this was shocking in usual times but during such a crucial period due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was the worst possible.
Some people are still not understanding the gravity of the situation due to which, the government has to take extreme measures to stop them from leaving their houses.
However, it is people like the female officer, who have to bear the consequences of such people’s insensitivity.
