The story you are going to read now is one of those where an ‘Angel’ adopted a child with a laundry list of conditions and with 30% chances of survival, yet now the baby is all grown up and is quite healthy.
Kelly Lively of Kokomo, Indiana is one of those people whose life is full of miracles and unexpected events.
On Feb 6, 2014 she lost her mother the same day when her father died 8 years ago.
She is a nurse by profession who helps other people relieve their pain, yet after losing her parents, she started feeling hollow from inside and lonely, causing her health to go down day by day. Moreover, she also came to know that due to some genetic problem, she can’t have a baby of her own.
All these things made her really stressed and she started feeling lonely and depressed all the time, waiting for a miracle to happen.
Lively said, “I started praying to God to restore my joy. I started praying for God to break my heart for what broke his heart.”
In the pursuit of happiness, she started volunteering for an organization, Make a Wish Foundation that aimed to help children in the need for extensive care.
One day she found out everyone was talking about a premature child with just 30% of survival rate. When Lively saw the child, that was her reaction, “What’s wrong? He’s so cute.’ But all I could see was that there was no life in his eyes. He was so sick.”
She found out that nobody wanted to adopt this child who was abandoned by a heroin-addicted mother.
It really broke her heart and she decided to take care of him and raise him. She told a local news website, “That just broke my heart. These kids deserve a loving home as much as the next. They can’t help they were born with disabilities or born early. I couldn’t allow Marcus to just end up in an institution.”
The day Lively brother him home, her sister took a photo of both of them and posted online saying, “This was the day Kelly met Marcus…” In the beginning, he was very sick and was on a ventilator for the most part of the day. But when there is true love, miracles do happen. Lively named him Marcus.
After countless countless sleepless nights and a lot of grueling work, Marcus is all grown up now, very healthy and have a beautiful bright smile.
It wouldn’t have been possible without Kelly Lively and that’s why doctors have started calling him “an angel from heaven”.
While giving an interview, Lively said, “The same day that broke my heart when I lost my mom was the same day I met my joy. I know that God brought us together.”
