“Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are not only humbled to be part of this year’s TIME 100 through the words of friend and partner José Andrés, but to also write in praise of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for the publication’s annual list of Most Influential People,” the couple expressed in their statement.

Soon enough, however, social media exploded with critics blasting the couple’s photoshoot and calling their shots ‘cringey’ and ‘awkward’.

In their cover photo, Meghan is seen standing in front of Harry who appears to be leaning on her shoulder from behind.

As some people insinuated, the photo clearly shows ‘who the boss is’ in the relationship.

“Harry looks completely awkward peering behind his wife like this,” one person wrote.

“This photo looks photoshopped. Also, the way they are positioned is very revealing: it’s the Meghan show and Harry is just the supporting actor,” another suggested.

The third critic wrote: “Wow, this photo speaks volumes. There is no hiding who’s in control.”

Meghan and Harry’s other photos weren’t spared the criticism either, whereas critics suggested they look extremely unrealistic and heavily airbrushed.

In one of the photos, the couple is seen smiling at each other while walking around their multi-million California estate. In another, Meghan and Harry are seen standing side-by-side next to a window while wearing formal clothes.

Speaking of the couple for the Time magazine was Harry and Meghan’s friend and partner José Andrés, the founder of World Central Kitchen, who praised the couple for doing so much good for the people rather than living a quiet life in their mansion.

“In a world where everyone has an opinion about people they don’t know, the duke and duchess have compassion for the people they don’t know. They don’t just opine. They run toward the struggle,” he said in a statement.

“It would be much safer to enjoy their good fortune and stay silent. That’s not what Harry and Meghan do, or who they are,” he added as he said that Meghan and Harry are “blessed through birth and talent, and burned by fame.”
