A royal expert has claimed that the reason Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to retire from all public royal duties is because they wanted more autonomy regarding their time, not because they wanted to step out of the limelight.
At the moment, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are staying in Los Angeles after resigning from senior royalty duties this march. They are residing with their 14 month old son Archie.
Victoria Murphy, who has written multiple books on the royalty, says she believes that the couple made the very public departure from royalty because they wanted to decide what they wanted to do and what to say.
In other words, Murphy said she believes both Harry and Meghan are very much interested in remaining a public figure, just not as a royalty. British royalty are famously bound when it comes to what they can say or do, along with having many restrictions as to who can approach and access them.
For instance, the couple are heavily invested in promoting Archewell, a charity organization that they established. Along with a lucrative deal with a speaking agency, the two are expected to promote their organization while giving speeches on a variety of issues.
Those who claim to have personal relationships with the two say that the Duke and Duchess are energized to get their organization going, often involving themselves with the everyday aspects of it as well.
Observers have jumped into advising what the two can do. For instance, a PR specialist advised that Harry and Meghan change their royal Instagram account to that of the Archewell foundation, carrying with them the 11 million followers of their established account.
One of the consequences that the two had to bear for retiring from the senior royalty duty was to forgo the usage of the Sussex royalty brand in their future endeavors. It is speculated that they are waiting for the pandemic to subside before unveiling information on Archewell.
Other than engaging in some smaller charity works, the two have kept a relatively low profile after moving to the US. Other than the general statement that the two will work on issues they hold dear, there is not much known about Archewell.
