After months since they retired from all public duties as royalty and decided to spend half of their time in the US, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have finally decided on their new home – a $14 million mansion in Montecito, California.
The 18,000 square feet mansion, worth $14.65 million, is said to have 9 rooms and 16 bathrooms. It comes with its own rose garden, a tennis court, separate teahouse along with a pool and even a small hut for children.
Moreover, if there weren’t enough rooms in the building, there is a separate building with two beds that can be used as a guesthouse. Observers believe that it would be a perfect place for Markle’s mother, Doria, to stay at when she visits her daughter in Santa Barbara.
Pictures of the mansion insides are highly unlikely to be revealed based on previous examples. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had threatened legal action against reporters who tried to get a picture of them staying in Tyler Perry’s house in Los Angeles.
A source who is close with Harry and Meghan said that the two did not borrow money from Prince Charles or any other royalty to purchase their mansion, although there were rumors circulated online.
The same source said that the couple is extremely happy at the moment because this is the first place that they can really call home, without receiving help from family members or friends. The source added that the two are eager to get to work and decorate the place as they see fit.
At the same time, Harry and Meghan are said to have been amazed and infinitely gracious for Perry, who granted them his $17 million mansion. The source said that the two told Perry that they will always remember the warmth that the actor showed them.
In their luxurious mansion, they will be neighbors with Hollywood big names such as Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey. The same source as before said that this is the place where the Duke and Duchess envision themselves to stay when in America with their son Archie.
While many expected the two to get a home in Los Angeles, the source refuted the notion, saying that the two never really considered settling down in LA.
