The Duke of Sussex has been left ‘heartbroken’ after the royal split but the Duchess of Sussex has warned it’s ‘not working’ for her.
As Meghan Markle fled to Canada, Prince Harry was left to explain further and have conversations with the Queen at Sandringham.
The Duke is reportedly torn over the idea of completely cutting ties with the royals. A source said to The Times that the decision to sever ties had been driven by the Duchess.
“She wants to leave … She thinks: ‘It’s not working for me’,” they said. “Harry is under intense pressure to choose. It is sad. He loves the Queen. He loves this country.
“He loves all his military stuff and I think it will genuinely break his heart to leave.
“I don’t think that’s what he really wants. I think they want some halfway house.”
Prince Harry and his brother Prince William released a statement after a source alleged their strained relationship pushed their decision to cut ties.
Many reports claimed Harry felt that his brother was not completely welcoming towards his wife when they first started dating and their relationship hasn’t improved ever since. However, royal insiders denied the allegations and said the brothers were ‘deeply, deeply upset’ over the ‘offensive’ claims.
The Queen has summoned Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry to a historic summit to discuss the future of the Royal Family. She also aims to sort the roles of the Sussexes, and Meghan could join in through a conference call.
The meeting comes after reports the Sussexes may do a tell-all US TV interview as Meghan’s American PR team is already in touch not only with chat show queen Oprah Winfrey but also with major US networks.
“Harry and Meghan’s people have been reaching out to all the big US networks to explore the possibilities of a sit-down warts-and-all interview,” said a royal source.
“Perhaps Harry and Meghan will use this as a negotiating tactic as there is no way the royals want their dirty laundry out in the open.
“Maybe they will get more money if they agree not to talk.”
According to the source, the couple also want to ‘tell their side of the story,’ adding: “Meghan feels she’s been silenced and is no longer prepared to be muted.
“She and Harry feel the royals have been racist and sexist. Her people are actively exploring opportunities.”
