Every generation in Hollywood has their nice guy who is beloved by all in Tinseltown.
Perhaps the most famous example would be Jimmy Stewart, who was known for his kindness along with the fact that he was a legitimate war hero who faked his weight to join the Air Force.
Many would agree that the warmest person around Hollywood right now is Tom Hanks. Never involved in a scandal along with a great repertoire of movies, hardly anyone harbors any ill feelings against the 63 year old Oscar winner.
In yet another story that speaks volumes about the man’s character, Hanks shared with his fans on his Instagram account how he has donated his blood plasma to help researchers better understand Covid-19. This was his second donation, as he had already donated last month for the same purpose.
Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson had both tested positive during a trip to Australia, where Hanks went for the production of an Elvis Presley biopic that was being made under the direction of Baz Luhrmann.
The couple was hospitalized for awhile and spent weeks isolating before they returned to the US. Hanks shared that his wife had a tougher time than him, experiencing higher fever and such. Fortunately, both of them have been cured of the virus.
After hearing about antibodies from the patients who went through the virus, the couple said they were all in to do what they can to support the fight against the virus. Hanks said that even before they were asked, he and his wife went to doctors they knew to donate their blood plasma.
In a post last month, Hanks said that donating blood plasma was a very simple and safe process that could potentially help humanity. The actor likened the whole process to taking a nap.
Hanks continues to inspire and warm the hearts of many during these hard times. Last month, he replied to an Australian boy who said he was getting bullied in school because his name was Corona. Hanks wrote back to the letter as well as gifting him a Corona typewriter as a present.
