As Gwen Stefani performed for thousands of her fans in West Palm Beach, Florida, a sign caught her eye.
The sign, held by a hopeful mother, had something written on it, but Stefani couldn’t read it. The sign was passed up to Stefani on stage.
She read the sign out loud so the audience could hear it.
“My son was bullied from 1st to 5th grade. He would home every day upset, but he would go to his room, listen to your music and smile.”
Gwen Stefani’s music had given the boy the courage and confidence he needed to push through.
You can see Stefeani’s reaction in the video below as she reads through the heartfelt note. Stefani had a surprise for the boy, “Get up here right now!” Stefani screams to the boy. The boy knew at that moment that his life was about to be changed for the better.
Brandon, the boy, makes his way to the stage through the crowd of fans screaming in support. He was now a few inches away from his idol. Stefani takes his arms and holds them up in the air. Brandon faces the audience with tears streaming down his happy face.
Gwen Stefani continues to hug and talk to him as he has the world’s biggest smile.
Later Stefani posted about this moment on Facebook to share it with her fans. “About 3 years ago when things were hard in my life I prayed to God everyday that I could get a chance to use my gift that God gave me and make a difference in some way – last night this little guy was the answer to my prayers #zerotoleranceforbullies” her post said.
The night wasn’t over for Brandon yet as he was invited onstage for the band’s final bow. Brandon and his mother were invited backstage to meet Stefani’s sons who are close to his age. Truly a powerful moment for Brandon and other bullied kids. Thank you, Gwen.
