Guys Posted Video Supposedly Showing ‘Alexa’ Giving Snarky Response To Request To Play Baby Shark

Baby Shark is one of those songs that, once heard, is to difficult to shake off.

In fact, it’s easy to get “last song syndrome” when playing it.

The song is the product of Pinkfong, a Korean YouTube channel that assists child learning through catchy sing-along videos.

The song is about three-generations of sharks who are all hungry and about the little fish who is well-advised to swim away from them.

The video has gained 3.3 billion views, making it one of the top 40 most watched YouTube videos. It has even spawned a controversial viral challenge that involves fans dancing alongside moving cars while dressed as sharks (something the original creator surely didn’t intend).

Given how viral the song has become, it’s no wonder that people keep wanting to play Baby Shark. And one man apparently asked Alexa, Amazon’s voice-activated virtual assistant, one too many times to play the song.

In the posted video, the man can be heard saying: “Alexa, play Baby Shark.”

To which Alexa gave this totally unscripted response:

“Listen there are other songs besides that one. I don’t mind playing it every now and then but this is getting ridiculous. You know I can do other things besides playing Baby Shark.

“I can tell you the weather. I can even count to 100. But I’m getting damn tired of that shark song. So if you ask me again, I’m gonna tell you where to put that shark. Hey, I’m just joking, teehee.”

While that hilarious response reminds us of Raj’s misadventures with Siri in The Big Bang Theory, skeptics have rightly pointed out that Amazon would never program Alexa to give such a snarky response to a request, no matter how many times it was made.

Besides, if this was real and unscripted, there are more things that we need to be worried about (Skynet and the Terminator come to mind).

Still, if there’s one thing we need to give props to this guy for, it’s how accurately he managed to mimic Alexa’s voice.

Either way, Baby Shark is not going to go away soon and is going to continue making waves.
