UPDATE: Gunman Kills At Least TEN In Supermarket, Including Police Officer, In Second Mass Shooting In A Week

Ten people, including a police officer, were killed in the Colorado supermarket shooting, authorities confirmed.

Fresh and tragic details about the shooting at a King Scoopers grocery store in Boulder, Colorado, have emerged shortly after it has come to light that a gunman opened fire and killed several people at 3600 Table Mesa Drive.

According to the recent reports on the matter, ten people, including one officer, were killed by the gunman who is now reportedly in police custody.

Earlier today, the police were seen leading a handcuffed man covered in blood away from the scene of the shooting. It has not yet been confirmed if the individual shown in the footage is the shooter.

“I promise the victims and the people of the state of Colorado we will secure justice,” Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty expressed.

The deadly mass shooting follows just days after a series of Atlanta, Georgia spa shootings that rocked the nation and resulted in the death of eight people.

As the police confirmed ten people died in the Colorado shooting, it has also been revealed that one of them was 51-year-old officer Eric Talley. The 11-year veteran of Boulder PD was reportedly responding to the reports of shooting when he was fatally shot by the gunman.

“I have to tell you [of] the heroic action of this officer when he responded at the scene. Officer Talley responded to the scene – he was the first on the scene – and he was fatally shot,” Police Chief Maris Herold expressed as she fought back tears.

“My heart goes out to the victims of this incident and I am grateful to the police officers that responded. And I am so sorry about the loss of Officer Talley.”

Following the devastating death toll, the authorities have confirmed that “there is no ongoing public threat” and that the suspect has been arrested.

“We do have a person of interest in custody. That person was injured during the incident and is being treated for the injuries,” Boulder Police Commander Kerry Yamaguchi confirmed in a statement.

As of this writing, the suspect has yet to be named, whereas the motives for the shooting remain unclear.

The investigation remains ongoing and the authorities have promised “full weight of federal law enforcement” as the FBI got involved.
