What would you do if you caught someone trying to steal your things?
Everyone who’s asked this question would answer that they would immediately call the police.

Instead of doing what people would normally do, a woman named Jessica Eaves did the unthinkable.

It happened when Jessica was shopping at local grocery store – she noticed that her wallet was gone.

When she looked around, she saw a man who was standing very close to her few seconds ago. And he was acting a bit strange. He looked as though he was hiding something. So, she knew that he was the one who stole her wallet.

Then, Jessica actually walked up to the thief, and said, “I’m going to give you a choice.”

When he was dumbstruck, as you would be if you were in his shoes, she said:
“You can either give me my wallet and I’ll forgive you right now, and I’ll even take you to the front and pay for your groceries.” Or, she said that he could refuse and she would call the police.

In a later interview, Jessica said that her actions were inspired by what she heard in church the other day.
It was this from Luke:

“To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak,

do not withhold your tunic either.”

The man then took out her wallet from his pocket and gave it back to her. Then, she walked with him to the front of the store to pay for his items: milk, bread, crackers, and cheese.
At that moment, he broke down in tears.

He then apologized repeatedly, telling her that he made a huge mistake because he was just so desperate. He wasn’t thinking straight.

He also said, “I’ll never forget tonight. I’m broke. I have kids. I’m embarrassed and I’m sorry.”

Jesicca showed kindness to a stranger who was going to steal her money, which saved him from doing a wrong thing. Besides, he could have continued to steal – making as his go-to method for getting money.

When her post about this experience at a store went viral, she did an interview with the Christian Post:

“I never carry cash. When I got to the check-out counter that day, his total was just a little over $27 and I had $28 in cash in my wallet.

So I knew in that moment it wasn’t me. It was Christ that played in that moment.”

The fact that what he needed to pay for his basic items summed up to be the amount that Jessica had in her wallet is pretty miraculous.
