A grieving grandfather has paid tribute to his granddaughter who was found lifeless only days after she went missing.
17-year-old Amy Hall vanished from their home in Hayfield, Derbyshire, on September 9 at around 1 pm.
According to police, a body was found in the Birch Vale area near New Mills.
Speaking to The Sun, the heartbroken grandfather said: “We are all devastated. She was a lovely girl. An angel.”
A neighbor, 54-year-old Richard Hughes, said Amy’s tragic death was ‘heartbreaking.’
“We all hoped she would be found safe and well. My heart goes out to the family,” he expressed.
Amy’s friend also said they also searched for the teen and had hoped to see her again.
“We all hoped we would see her again. It’s terrible. Everyone is so upset,” she said.
Amy’s mother, Nicky Hall, shared the heartbreaking news of her daughter’s death on Facebook.
“I can’t believe I am saying this but I feel I have to due to people organising searches and posters. Amy Hall’s body was found earlier she has died. Sorry to tell people this way.
“Many thanks for everything everyone has done. Nicky Hall Amy’s mum xxx.”
One of Amy’s friends paid tribute and wrote: “Rip Amy, I know we became friends for a short while, I was lucky to have met you.
“I’ll always remember our laughs at work on Sundays. So sorry for your loss Amy’s family and friends x.”
Derbyshire Police said in a statement: “The body of a what is believed to be missing teenager Amy Hall has been found in the Birch Vale area, near New Mills.
“Amy’s family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time.
“Formal identification of the 17-year-old is yet to take place, officers are preparing a file for the coroner and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”
