Greta Thunberg, President Trump, And Prince Charles To Attend The World Economic Forum In Davos

Climate activists, academics, and global leaders will be speaking on the eve of the World Economic Forum in Davos about the climate crisis.

Greta Thunberg was due to attend the event but her team announced that it as she is unwell. However, she will be opening a debate on the opening day of the summit.

Reuters correspondent, Conway Gittens, said: “The teenage climate activist was due to be speaking here but her team have said she is unwell. But she may well be putting the finishing touches to comments for an opening day of the summit when the 17 year old will again have the ear of the world’s most powerful.”

Greta marched with 10,000 environmental protesters in the Swiss city of Lausanne last week. She launched the FridaysforFuture movement in 2018 that sparked worldwide protests.

However, the founder of the World Economic Forum, Klaus Schwab, urges to acknowledge other young voices in Davos too.

The World Economic Forum, Klaus Schwab, said: “We should not just concentrate on Greta. She’s certainly got some kind of celebrity status. But I’m thinking of the young girl who we have here who has changed at the age of 19 the whole policy of Indonesia concerning plastics.”

“People are revolting against the economic ‘elites’ they believe have betrayed them, and our efforts to keep global warming limited to 1.5°C are falling dangerously short.”

“With the world at such a critical crossroads, this year we must develop a ‘Davos Manifesto 2020’ to reimagine the purpose and scorecards for companies and governments,”

On the World Economic Forum’s 50th annual meeting, President Donald Trump will deliver a special address while two hours later, Greta will start a debate on how to avert a “climate apocalypse.”

Britain’s Prince Charles will also deliver a special address on “How to save the planet.”
