During her teary-eyed speech, Greta said:

“People are dying and dying ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is the money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth.

“How dare you!?”

The activist’s direct confrontation gained her millions of followers from around the world. As experts claimed, however, her approach could also cost her her Nobel Peace Prize.

Besides winning the Right Livelihood Award, Greta is also one of 301 contenders for the Nobel Peace Prize after she was nominated by three Norwegian politicians.

If the 16-year-old happens to win the exclusive prize, she would become the youngest person ever to receive the exclusive award.
