“In Sweden you can not test yourself for COVID-19 unless you’re in need of emergent medical treatment.”

Following her announcement, the eco-warrior also opened up about her situation in a video shared by New Scientist and explained how easy it is for the person to get the virus without even knowing it.

“I didn’t basically feel that I was ill. It could be that I was feeling unusually tired, I was coughing a bit. That is because I’m not in a risk group, I didn’t get it very seriously. That also is very dangerous because you don’t know you have it,” Thunberg said.

As she added, she might have not realized she was sick if it wasn’t for her father who developed the same symptoms at the same time as her.

“Many people don’t feel symptoms at all, or very mild symptoms, but it can be contagious,” the teen warned.

“That is something I want to communicate, that many people don’t feel symptoms at all, or very mild symptoms, but it can still be contagious. So you have to really practice social distancing whether you feel ill or not.”
