The ‘green man’ on pedestrian crossings has been replaced with same-sex and other trans symbols, giving rise to four new sets of lights with different filters too.

According to media reports, the change has reportedly taken place in Rochdale as a means of marking the beginning of the Pride festival, which is scheduled to take place in the upcoming fortnight.

However, the decision didn’t appear to be welcomed by plenty as locals voiced their opinions and fury against the measures put in place recently.

The four lights were revamped to feature the very popular and recognized symbol of the LGBT community, instead of the usual indicator that informs others about safe crossings too.

Moreover, locals questioned authorities’ decisions over the move, or shall we say switch, questioning why the LGBT community was getting so much importance over ordinary citizens.point 436 |

In the same way, locals warned that the move would actually prove to be hazardous as many would not be aware of knowing when to cross the road.point 116 | 1

Therefore, the tweets regarding the incident were flooded across Twitter with many putting forward their thoughts in the boldest and provocative manner imaginable.

One user wrote, “Can I ask you all why we must go down this route again?” In the same way, another explained that if the LGBT community wished to be treated like other members of the society, then the council would need to stop the behavior of making them stand out so much with measures like these.

And just like that, the comments against the council filled the air as others called the move a complete and utter waste of money, and some mentioning how the act was simply propaganda that needed to stop.
