When the apple fell on Sir Isaac Newton’s head, it had unknowingly set him on the path towards discovering the law of gravity.
Now, we take such things for granted but there are still places in the world where the laws of gravity are seemingly being violated such as a waterfall that falls up or a car going uphill with its engine off.
Take a look at some of these freakishly strange places on the planet
1. England’s “reverse” waterfall
Located not far from Hayfield, the water from this waterfall goes up to the sky. Granted, the wind in the area is so strong as to push the water back up but with a height of only 78 feet, the question is where does that incredibly strong wind come from?
2. The Oregon House of mysteries
Deep in the forests of Oregon, there is a place called the Oregon Vortex which Native Americans call “Forbidden Ground.point 242 |

3. Mount Aragats in Armenia
This mountain located on the border of Turkey and Armenia blows people’s minds. That’s because there’s a road at the foot of the mountain that even if you turn off your engine will continue going uphill by itself. Even a nearby river flows upward and a few say that it’s easier to go up than down.
4. Hoover Dam
If you happen to visit here, pour some water out of a bottle. The water will fly up! But that’s because of the strong winds in the area.
5. Devil’s Tower in Wyoming
This rock formation is located in the Bear Lodge Ranger District of the Black Hills. Climbers love it but strangely enough, anyone who has been to Mt. Everest can’t make it to the top of Devil’s Tower.
6. Gravity-defying road in Jeju Island, South Korea
On this lonely stretch of road in Jeju Island, empty bottles or cans left there roll uphill. There is no explanation but local authorities quickly took the opportunity to turn it into a tourist attraction with even a sign to point out where the gravitational anomaly begins.
7. Myanmar’s golden boulder
Covered in gold, this rock looks as if it could fall over any second.point 208 |
But it has actually been there for roughly 2,500 years! 8. Stone of Davasko in Argentina
The original 300-ton stone already fell but it took thousands of years for it to do so. Locals even put a bottle at the bottom to check the tilt and it cracked, confirming that the boulder was slowly tilting until it finally fell on February 29, 1912. But 95 years later, a 9-ton copy was placed and affixed to the rock.
