“What I did was an unpardonable crime. Solitude is forever. I feel I deserve this. I will have no reprieve,” she said, the Grand Forks Herald reported.

Her lawyer said that David and Lois got into an argument because he wanted to leave their grandson’s basketball tournament.

Their dispute escalated that David decided to pull out his handgun and gave it to his wife, saying: “Why don’t you kill yourself? Maybe you will get it right this time.”

Lois grabbed the weapon and shot her husband multiple times in the chest and ran away, causing a nationwide manhunt.

Her daughter, Breanna Riess, said in a statement: “I cycle between anger, regret and sadness. Losing my dad at the hands of my mom is something I will never be able to process… I miss my dad more than words can describe, but I have to allow for forgiveness in my heart, because that’s what he would have wanted.”
