A centenarian from Wilbraham, Massachusetts, has gone viral after celebrating her victory over COVID-19 with a bottle of beer at the age of 103.
Jennie Stejna is a strong elderly lady who loves to chug down a cold Bud Light especially when she knows she deserves it – such as was the case after beating the killer bug.
Since the centenarian is staying at the Life Care Center home for the aged, she was helped to the bottle of a cold beer by the staff.
According to Jennie’s granddaughter, her grandma’s passion for beer is nothing unusual since she’s always been a great fan of baseball and a “hardcore Boston sports fan.”
As Shelley Gunn said in an interview with Easton Wicked Local, the centenarian would “sit outside and listen to the Red Sox on the radio.”
According to the granddaughter, she and her daughter were lucky enough to get to see Jennie just days before she contracted the virus and the visitations were placed on hold.
“It was the first Saturday in March. The next day they stopped allowing visitors into the home,” Shelley explained.
While the centenarian’s condition became critical at one point, Jennie managed to recover after already saying her goodbyes to her family via phone.
By mid-May, the 103-year-old “feisty old Polish grandmother” has been declared coronavirus-free, an occasion that she wanted to celebrate by popping open a cold one.
Jennie remains the first person at the Life Care Center to contract and beat the disease that has claimed over 100,000 lives in the US alone.
