A grandfather met his first grandchild through a window during coronavirus social distancing.
The heartbreaking photo quickly went viral since it was shared on Twitter on March 21.
The photo shows Michael Gallachoir holding his son Faolan as his father happily looks in through a window to see his grandson.
“Three generations of social distancing as my dad meets his grandson for the first time,” aunt Emma Gallachoir wrote on Twitter.
Michael from Dublin said in an interview with Today that baby Faolan was born on March 14. “Our district nurse would come on to sterilize all our clothes that we wore to the hospital,” he said, adding that his dad also lives nearby and wanted to see baby Faolan.
“Because we have no visitors, (my wife) posted it to relatives through WhatsApp and sent it to my sister,” he told Today.
“My sister posted in on Twitter, and we didn’t think too much of it, really.”
A day after the photo was shared on social media, Emma shared another photo of her adorable nephew and wrote: “The good news is baby Faolan is doing great and oblivious to his new fame.”
She added: “My dad is also doing well and is completely oblivious to his new fame. He wouldn’t let me take a pic of him but he’s smiling! My brother lives about 2 minutes away from him so he went up to say hello. He knew he couldn’t come in. He is looking forward to holding the baby soon.”
As of this writing, there are more than 187,900 confirmed cases in the US, with more than 3,860 deaths. Italy has over 105,790 cases with at least 12,428 deaths.
