An elderly man has passed away from the novel coronavirus after being forced to self-isolate and denied testing on three occasions.

As Kansas-based Joanna Wilson explained, her 74-year-old husband, Dennis, had gone through a “week of immeasurable suffering” before his passing.

Dennis allegedly began experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 on March 12. Since then, he visited the hospital three times with little success.

As Joanna claimed, the doctors told the couple that Dennis didn’t exhibit enough symptoms to get tested for the killer bug.

It wasn’t until the grandfather’s condition became critical that he was rushed to Overland Park’s AdventHealth Shawnee Mission where the staff tended to the senior man and ordered Joanna to self-quarantine.

“Never in a million years would I ever have thought we would be in such a situation! Never! Confirmed! Please keep us in your prayers. And pray hard. Please!” the wife wrote in her touching post at the time.

On Tuesday last week, the staff decided to let Joanna visit her husband despite being told to self-isolate.

“Dennis is still so very ill. Covid-19 has a strong hold on his lungs and won’t let go!” she added in an update as she shared a picture in which she’s holding her husband’s hand.

“His pneumonia is extensive and debilitating and potentially very deadly! And as long as that’s the case then he will need life support. Please continue to pray for him!”

Unfortunately, as The Kansas City Star reported, the 74-year-old died from the disease on Saturday, March 21, just days after being admitted to the hospital.

“I walked into my home now knowing for sure he would never walk through the door again. And now I start another complete quarantine, and think what kind of funeral I can plan from home, knowing it might not take place for quite a while and might be a lot less than I think he deserves. More travesty!” Joanna wrote.
