Partially Blind Grandfather Has Been Viciously Attacked By A Group Of Teens In Broad Daylight


A 63-year-old grandfather from Melbourne has been viciously beaten by a group of teens.

Harrowing video of the incident showed how the teenagers approached the man before dragging him onto the ground.

The gang members then kicked the partially blind grandfather and took some of his personal items before leaving him left for dead.

The assault reportedly occurred near Pelister Place in Sunshine West just after lunchtime.

The grandfather was not the only victim of the teenagers that day. Police said that three other people were punched in the face or robbed.

Officers said that all the victims were vulnerable and were waiting for public transport.

9 News reported that four people have been arrested over the brutal assaults, including a 16-year-old who was given a youth attendance order and won’t serve time.

A 20-year-old was sentenced to eight months in prison, a 16-year-old was given a six-month sentence, while an 18-year-old was sentenced to two years behind bars.

“I feel sick when I see that type of offending,” Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Rick Nugent said to Channel 9. “Just a vicious attack on a person that’s going about their business.”

Authorities were not only shocked by the assaults but were also dismayed with the punishments given to those who got arrested.

Victims of Crime Commissioner Fiona McCormack told 9 News: “I think they feel really betrayed and I think it would impact on their sense of safety. Such serious violent crimes…that needs to be taken really seriously by the system.”
