Shaymaa Ismaa’eel who is 24 years old flashed a peace sign while wearing hijaab in front of the anti-Muslim protestors.
The photo is going viral on the internet as it is showing kindness and hope for people around.
Shaymaa was in Washington D.C. to attend the Islamic Circle of North America Convention when she came across the anti-Muslim group gathered outside.
Shaymaa didn’t feel like ignoring or arguing with the group, so she decided to protest back at them by flashing a peace sign and smiling for the picture in front of them.
The 24-year-old woman works for children with autism as a behavioral therapist, and she inspired a lot of people who were getting upset by seeing the protest outside the building.
She told the BuzzFeed that one man who was wearing a shirt with the statement ‘ You need Jesus’ was also holding the signboard with the rest of the group.
The other boards read that Islam is a religion of murder and blood, but the blood given from Jesus is presented as a ransom for humanity.
Some signs also read that the children who do not do what is right are not God’s child and isn’t anyone to God.
Shaymaa claimed that the first time she passed the group on Saturday to head towards the convention which has shopping, food, kid’s wonderland, entertainment and speakers, that time she made sure that they see her face while passing by.
After that day she couldn’t stop thinking about it so on Sunday when she walked up to their she asked the police if she could stand in front of the men and the officer said no.
Shaymaa claimed that at that particular moment she felt like the most prominent rebel and then she went a few feet away and beamed in the camera while flashing a peace sign.
After doing this, she felt like she did something great in the form of accomplishment, and then she posted the picture on Instagram with the caption that kindness is a mark of faith and those who are not kind do not have faith.
The image went viral in no time, and over 63,000 people liked her picture on, and another 26,000 liked on Twitter.
There were lots of positive comments like ‘The best thing ever,’ ‘Such a bold power move’ and much more through her post has made her mother nervous and worried, so she asked her daughter to be aware of the surroundings because people aren’t that kind.
