5-Year-Old Girl Wakes Up From Coma After Horrific Accident Involving Kansas City Chief’s Assistant Coach


A 5-year-old girl who was left in a coma after a car crash involving NFL coach Andy Reid’s son has finally woken up.

Ariel Young was in the back of their vehicle when Kansas City Chief’s assistant coach Britt Reid crashed into the car.

Another child was also in the back seat and was rushed to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Ariel is awake,” said Tiffany Verhulst, who set up a GoFundMe page to help the family pay for the young girl’s medical expenses.

Kansas City police said that a white Dodge Ram that Reid was driving crashed into a Chevrolet Impala that was at a standstill on an exit ramp.

The Impala’s driver had called family for help as they had run out of fuel, and a Chevrolet Traverse arrived and parked in front of the vehicle.

Reid, 35, then hit the left front of the Impala and also struck the right rear of the Traverse.

Two children in the backseat of the Traverse were rushed to a local hospital. The 4-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries but the 5-year-old was left in a coma.

“The organization has been made aware of a multi-vehicle accident involving Outside Linebackers Coach, Britt Reid,” the Chiefs said in a statement.

“We are in the process of gathering information, and we will have no further comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.”

Reid reportedly told an officer that he had 2 to 3 drinks. He was also taken to a hospital for treatment.

The team confirmed that Reid won’t make it to Tampa as he was involved in a multi-car pile-up in Missouri.

The 35-year-old had previous DUI and drug charges from a separate incident.

Reid has not been charged in relation to the incident.

A statement from police read: “Prosecutors typically would like a completed case file in order to file charges or decline, depending on what the evidence would indicate.

“In cases like this that may include toxicology, crash reconstruction, witness statements and a variety of other related pieces.

“We cannot discuss this case specifically, as it is under investigation and we do not want to taint that in any way. We treat each case with respect regardless of who is involved.”
