7-Year-Old Girl Shot Dead Next To Her Father While Waiting To Get Food At A Drive-Thru

A 7-year-old was fatally shot in front of her father while waiting to get food at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Chicago.

The heartbreaking shooting took place in Homan Square on Sunday afternoon when the Adams family was waiting in line at a drive-thru to collect their food.

While awaiting their turn to be served, 7-year-old Jaslyn Adams and her 28-year-old father, Jontae Adams, were shot after gunfire suddenly broke out.

While Mr. Adams suffered severe injuries after his family’s car got riddled by bullets, his daughter, Jaslyn, couldn’t be saved despite being rushed to the hospital in the back of a police car.

As of this writing, the authorities are still on the hunt for the suspect(s). The case remains under investigation and it is not yet known what led up to the deadly shooting.

According to Chicago Sun-Times, Jontae called his mother, Lawanda McMullen, to tell her what had happened after the shooting took place. “He said, ‘Ma, come get me. They just shot my baby,’” McMullen recalled her son saying.

Following the 7-year-old’s tragic death, heartbroken family members recalled the young girl as a “really sweet child” who was dubbed Pinky “because she was bright.”

Meanwhile, Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the child was shot multiple times.

As of this writing, Jaslyn’s father, who was shot in the torse, remains in a critical condition.

While the motives behind the shooting remain unclear, the police have suggested that the incident could be gang-related.
