A 3-year-old girl was lifted 100 feet into the air after getting caught up by a giant kite during a festival in Taiwan.
The young girl was participating in a kite festival at Nanliao harbor in Hsinchu City when she was caught up in the strings of a giant orange kite and lifted high into the air.
Videos from the shocking scene show the young girl twisting many times above the festivalgoers as they tried to pull her down.
According to local reports, people managed to catch the terrified girl when she fell to the ground, her yells and screams filling the background.
The young girl has been reported safe and suffered no physical injuries.
She was rushed to a hospital and was joined by her parents, Taiwan News reported.
The festival was canceled after the incident.
Hsinchu City’s mayor, Lin Chih-chien, has apologized for what happened. He reportedly said: “The city government team offers its sincere apology to the victim and the public.”
One internet user commented: “Kudos to everyone who ran towards her to try and catch her instead of filming it on their phones!”
Another wrote: “That poor child! The poor parents too omg I’m happy she’s okay! What a freaky thing to have happen.”
A third said: “I’m sorry that a three-year-old little girl had to go through that.
My entire youth, I have always wished to get a bunch of balloons and see if I could float just for a little while. Then I saw that Australian movie about where the guy is sitting in a lawn chair in his backyard and flies up and hits a storm and meets some new girl in a town across the mountains and it was so goofy that I gave up all hope a floating by balloons.
