A Girl Suffering With a Rare Disease Has Invented a Teddy Bear Which Hides IV Bags So That No Kid Gets Scared


Medi Teddy has been created by the girl as a part of her school project, which hides the IV bags, which she has been seeing as part of her treatment since her 7 years age.

A 12-year kid has very uncomfortable experiences in the hospital, which she turned into comfortable ones by inventing a teddy that hides the IV bags, which are scary for many kids.

Ella Casano, 12 has prone to Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP) since her early seven years of age. This is an illness that is caused when the immune system takes an attack on the platelets and destroys them badly.

These fragments of platelets will clot the blood.

During her treatment, she has to take IV infusions for every six to eight weeks and this challenging thing for this small girl. With the inspirations she gained from her treatment, she came up with a teddy so that the kids do not fear of the IV infusions.

When she had her first infusion, she was afraid seeing the medical equipment on the IV pole.

Seeing many other kids experiencing the same feeling, she has come up to create a friendly experience for the kids of her age when infusing IVs, thus this resulted in the creation of Medi Teddy.

This teddy was made by stuffing animals and a hot glue gun to make a non-threatening IV contraption.

The Medi teddy that is created by this girl has a pouch where the doctors can place the IV bag. The back pouch attached to the teddy is made of mesh panel so that doctors can see the medication that is received by the child.

The friendly face of teddy will never let the kids experience the bag of medication, IV product or blood bottles. The concept of this teddy has taken birth in her mind when she needed an idea for an invention convention program that held at her school.

She was doing her schooling in Timothy Dwight Elementary in Fairfield, Connecticut. Both the daughter and mother duo has come up with a plan to make Medi teddy and has got the US patent on it.

This product was launched the last week and got an order for 500 units in no time. She is planning to donate these teddies to the kids who are suffering with various health ailments. She started to make huge profits.

Meg Casano, never like to charge money from the sick child for this comforting teddy instead she is gifting this to them. This teddy is purchased for gifting and for medical facilities.
