A young girl returned home only to discover that both of her parents died from coronavirus complications.
The family had recently moved into their new home in Missouri when the devastating incident occurred.
Obituaries and social media posts from grieving family and friends identified the couple as Erika and Gregory Greenman, both in their 40s.
Neighbors told KSDK that the couple’s 11-year-old daughter found their bodies in the bed.
Chuck Duy said: “To lose both parents at one time you know for an 11-year-old, it’s really tragic.
“Last year at Christmas time they came down to our door and gave us cookies. They were just the nicest people. We are praying for the girl and their family.”
Duy also said that he talked to the grieving family who said that the mother had visited the hospital.
“Supposedly she had gone to the hospital. They thought she had a stroke, but I guess it was due to COVID,” he said.
“She tested positive, but they sent her home and then her husband meanwhile was home with a positive test for COVID, so they both were quarantined downstairs in their bedroom in their basement.”
Erika’s sister, Anne Nance Bulliner, took to Facebook to announce the heartbreaking news. “Please pray for my family. We lost my baby sister and her husband today. Such a sad day! I am gonna miss you soooo much. I love you!!”
Michael Nance wrote: “Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we are mourning the loss of my Aunt Erika Nance Greenman and her husband Scott Greenman. Love while you can because life is so uncertain!”
A friend of the couple, Erica Goodwin, also said: “It doesn’t make sense why God would allow this horrible virus take you both on the same day.
“It doesn’t make sense why your beautiful baby girl lost both of her loving parents, why one of my closest friends lost her dear sister, or why our Firm lost two exceptional employees and friends. Our hearts are broken. Rest In Peace dear friends.”
