It can be difficult to persuade kids to put their gadgets down and play outside.
But that’s not a hard job for the parents of this 6-year-old girl.
Ashleen’s parents don’t have to force her to head outside for a walk as she’s always excited to go on an adventure.
The courageous girl from West Sussex just became the youngest Briton to reach the 17,500ft Everest Base Camp.
And even after reaching their destination, little Ashleen said: “That was easy peasy!”
The young girl made the epic journey with her 11-year-old brother Nicholas and mom Victoria. They began their historic climb in Lukla before going on a 12-day trek to Everest Base Camp.
“She would love to climb Everest but I’ve told her she has to wait a few more years,” her mother shared.
One internet user commented: “Pretty impressive ‘show and tell’ story for school. Embarrassing when six year olds are having bigger and better adventures than I am .”
Another wrote: “Wow! What an achievement! Congratulations!”
Outdoor activities play an important part of childhood as this allows them to explore their surroundings, see new things, and find joy in everything.
Playing outdoors increases children’s ability to jump, balance, throw, climb, skip and run. They also learn about the natural elements, the change in seasons, the weather, and different animals they can find outside.
From enhanced spatial recognition to understanding their surroundings, even simple activities such as jumping and running outside can make a huge difference.
“Children need to remain active throughout the day; promoting outdoor play allows them to get fresh air and explore their environment more. Hands-on learning, the natural environment and loose parts in the outdoors stimulate children’s senses through what they hear, touch, see and feel,” himama wrote on their website.
