Police officers are on the hunt for a child snatcher who attempted to kidnap a 9-year-old school girl by following her home from school.
The man was caught on CCTV before attempting to lure the girl to his home using candies. Fortunately, however, the young girl managed to run away from the man and locked herself in her house.
The ordeal began soon after the girl left her school in Wandsworth, London. From there, the girl got on a bus that took her on a 15-minute ride to Dover Park Drive.
At the Dover Park Drive stop, the child predator began following the school girl and allegedly started talking to her. As the girl admitted, the shady man wanted to lure her to his home using candies.
After a failed attempt, the girl refused to follow the kidnappers and ran away towards her home.
Despite the man pulling her hair and trying to drag her away, the 9-year-old fought him off and locked herself inside her family home.
Once the guy figured out he couldn’t get inside, he ran away before the police arrived at the scene.
“While incidents like this are rare we are very keen to trace this man and would urge anyone who can identify him to come forward,” investigation lead, Detective Constable Matt Morse, said.
The police also urged parents to keep an eye on their children and contact the authorities if they have any information that could lead them to catching the child predator.
A suspect is a black man of tall stature. He was wearing black clothes on the day of the attempted kidnapping.
