A teen installed hidden cameras around their home in Florida as she wanted to report her father’s physical abuse.
The cameras caught him abusing her and threatening to cut her pet dog’s throat.
47-year-old Damon Becnel was charged with child and animal cruelty after the teen gave officers the evidence of abuse.
According to authorities, the video the 14-year-old handed over showed Damon with his daughter and two dogs.
Damon could be heard shouting as one of the dogs didn’t obey him while his daughter sat on a chair. He then hit the dog before pulling out a knife and threatened to cut the pooch’s throat.
“I will cut this f***ing dog’s eyeballs out, I’ll f***ing do it,” he shouted.
The girl lunged at him when he grabbed the dog by the neck and threw it harshly to the floor. He then grabbed the teen by her hair as she tried to shield her dogs.
Becnel then headbutted the girl, causing her to strike her head against the wall. He yelled: “I know more than you do. Stop thinking you know everything.”
The girl shouted back: “Why are you so abusive to me?”
Her mother, who doesn’t have custody of the teen, said the girl had been attempting to report her father’s physical abuse for many years but they didn’t believe her as she didn’t have evidence.
“Nothing was done. Nothing has ever been done to help my daughter,” the mother said to NBC15. “She absolutely knew that something bad was going to happen and nobody would believe her unless she had that on film.”
Speaking about her daughter’s plan to install hidden cameras, the mother added: “She is one strong and one smart little girl and I couldn’t be more proud of her.”
Becnol, who was released on bond, will face court next month.
