Their efforts backfired after critics began slamming the model, Anna O’Brien, and accusing Gillette of being extreme and irrational.

“I run my online personality with heart, which means my opinions cannot be bought,” Anna O’Brien, who runs her own blog called Glitter + Lazers, said.

“If I review something positively- it’s because I actually like it. I might be provided goods or in some case ever paid to try out and experiment with a product, but every collaboration comes with the caveat- I will write what I believe. I blame this on the bad case of ethics and morals I was born with.”

Featuring Anna in their latest ad, Gillette Venus wrote:

“Venus is committed to representing women of all shapes, sizes, and skin types because ALL types of beautiful skin deserve to be shown. We love Glitter + Lazers because she lives out loud and loves her skin no matter how the “rules” say she should display it.”

Anna, who has an Instagram account with other 300,000 followers, claims she is “an accomplished global speaker” who is “known for creating a candid and captivating presentation style and my ability to transform difficult concepts into executable steps.”

Despite their joints efforts to encourage body inclusivity in Gillette’s ad, the people weren’t amused after the post went viral.

“They couldn’t have found a girl with a little chub on her that says ‘I’m confident and I love to eat!’ Nah, let’s go with the ‘I’m morbidly obese and love to eat everything and might die of heart disease by the time I’m 35,’” one person commented.

“You say ban Victoria secret because it’s unhealthy or not realistic, but this is extremely unhealthy and should not be promoted. This world is backward as hell,” another one added.
