Jeffrey Epstein’s former associate claims Ghislaine Maxwell will be ‘naming names’ and among those ‘worried’ about what she might reveal is Prince Andrew.
Maxwell, the daughter of late British media proprietor Robert Maxwell, was arrested on accusations linked to sex-trafficking charges against Jeffrey Epstein, who took his own life last year.
According to reports, a mystery technology entrepreneur has helped her acquire the $1 million home in New Hampshire where she was seized.
Maxwell is facing charges of procuring girls as young as 14 to let Epstein sexually abuse them. She could also be held in the same jail in Manhattan where Epstein committed suicide. If convicted, she faces up to 35 years in prison.
In an interview with The Sun, Epstein’s former associate Steve Hoffenberg said Maxwell ‘knows everything’ and will fully co-operate, adding ‘there’s a lot of people very worried.’
Hoffenberg, a convicted fraudster, added, “Andrew is definitely, definitely concerned.”
Pressure on Prince Andrew to talk to the FBI was rising after Maxwell was arrested. He was urged to come forward at a press conference in New York in which prosecutors mentioned the allegations facing Maxwell.
Audrey Strauss, the acting US attorney in New York’s southern district, said, “We would welcome Prince Andrew coming in to talk with us, we would like to have the benefit of his statement.
“I have no further comment beyond what I just said, which is that our doors remain open, as we previously said, and we would welcome him coming in and giving us an opportunity to hear his statement.”
A source close to the Duke’s working group said his lawyers have repeatedly offered to help and now they are ‘bewildered’. “The duke’s team remains bewildered given that we have twice communicated with the DOJ in the last month and to date we have had no response,” the source said.
Prosecutors sought testimony from Prince Andrew and have continued their investigation as he faces accusations from Virginia Giuffre, who claims she was forced to have sexual intercourse with him at Maxwell’s London home when she was a teen. Her accusations have been denied by the Duke, saying he has no recollection of meeting her.
Giuffre celebrated Maxwell’s arrest and said she deserved to be in jail.
