Marcel Van Hattem, who is a 52-year-old pilot and his female passenger who is 31 years old, had been missing since the last Yak-52 plane they were flying.
They have a pet German shepherd who is waiting for his owner’s arrival without knowing that his master is never coming back home as the rescue crew found Hattem’s body on Thursday afternoon.
The pet dog is lying on the front door of the pilot’s Queensland property waiting for him to come back.
Hattem took the mother of one on a ride above the Gold Coast for her pre-birthday celebrations but around 10:30 in the morning the pilot lost contact with the crew. Then at 5:30, rescue team discovered the same plane on the South Stradbroke.
According to the police, the couple was up in the air only for 30 minutes, and later small parts of the plane were found in the evening.
Then later that night, the team also found big parts of the aircraft’s body. Though there is still no news about the mother of one who has an eleven-year-old daughter.
It is evident after the whole search that something went terribly wrong with the pair and probably that’s why their plane crashed.
The president of the Southport Flying Club, Neil Aitkenhead, said that Mr. Hattem was an efficient and well-respected person and it is a tragedy to hear about his death.
When more information was collected about the incident, then it was found that it was supposed to be a 30-minute flight, that’s why the alarm was raised.
The president also said that they are sure about the flying conditions as they checked it properly before its take off. The search is still going on for the lady, and now special underwater equipment is brought for the search.
