As Antonio Romanucci, one of the family’s attorneys, explained, the Floyd family has received a notice claiming that Hennepin Healthcare employees committed a breach by accessing the deceased man’s medical records.

While Romanucci acknowledged that the letter submitted to the family by the healthcare system confirmed that workers responsible for the breach “no longer work at the organization,” he said that the Floyd family is considering a lawsuit.

“They feel it’s a continued assassination of George Floyd, his character. It’s a non-stop issue,” the attorney explained in an interview with KARE 11.

“And they were very upset, very disturbed, disappointed that even in death, that George Floyd’s character is being maligned by people that didn’t have any business looking at his private medical record.”

Romanucci also insisted that the letter sent to the Floyd family by Hennepin Healthcare didn’t provide details about the information that was accessed and the number of employees behind the stunt.

As the healthcare system explained after the breach, they have complied with federal regulations by informing the Floyd family of the breach after they became aware of it.
