Country Singer Garth Brooks Agrees To Perform At Joe Biden’s Inauguration Ceremony


Country singer Garth Brooks has revealed that he will perform at Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony despite being a Republican.

As the country star, who will be joined by Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga, insisted, his performance at the Democratic president’s inauguration will not serve as a political statement but as a statement of unity.

“I’ve played for every president there is, since Carter, with the exception of Reagan,” the 58-year-old singer, who accepted the invitation to perform at the inauguration, told the reporters via Zoom call.

“This is an honor for me to get to serve. It’s one of the things that, if my family is around, no matter who the president-elect is, it’s an honor to be asked. This is not a political statement. This is a statement of unity.”

As the country star, who previously performed at Barack Obama’s inauguration, also joked, he might be “the only Republican at the ceremony.”

Brooks also went on to suggest that Americans should accept each other despite having different opinions as he said he is tired of the division.

“I want us to offer a differing opinion and hug each other at the same football game,” he added.

“I think as long as you have people like the Bidens who are hellbent on making things good – That makes me feel good.”

Recalling the Capitol riot, the singer went on to call the January 6 events at Capitol Hill “disturbing” and “sad.”

“It felt like it was in some other country, but it was here. Now we deal with it and take responsibility. And now we do our best to make sure something like that doesn’t happen again,” he said.
