A self-taught gardener with a passion for flowers has turned his boring lawn into a wildflower meadow and people can’t get enough of his brilliant idea.
Instead of keeping up with his plain lawn, 31-year-old Peter Thain from Cheltenham, UK, decided to convert the turf into a wildflower field.
The decision followed after the man’s yard got destroyed by the summer heat and he had to watch his bride-to-be walk through the “desert” located right in front of their home.
After hours of hard work and thousands of wildflower seeds planted, Peter’s efforts finally paid off.

“So, I decided to rip up the front lawn and plant a meadow. The neighbors think I’m nuts, but it’s finally coming to life,” the physiotherapist said.
After receiving a ton of positive responses from the internet, the 31-year-old also opened his own Instagram account on which he shares pictures of the meadow with his fans.
“Looks a million times better than a boring green lawn. Well done. I don’t mow my front lawn and it’s full of wild flowers and therefore lots of insects, birds and frogs,” one person wrote.
“I wish I had a lawn just so that I could make THIS out of it. Great job,” another one suggested.
After receiving plenty of uplifting comments on his social media profile, Peter admitted feeling surprised.
“I’m truly overwhelmed with the attraction this post is having. Hopefully it will attract as much wildlife. It would be great to get more gardens and unused spaces like this,” he said.
He also encouraged others to follow his example by sharing some tips:
“Lift lawn with turf cutter – no weed killer required. Secondly, turn soil for six weeks and weed. Thirdly, scatter seed.”
