A new study has found that fumes from e-cigarettes are dangerous and can kill cells that line airways.

E-cigarettes became popular in recent years as they are seen as a much healthier alternative to tobacco.

But scientists at the Royal Adelaide Hospital have discovered that vapor produced by e-cigarettes is harmful, so they have called for government regulation.

Dr. Miranda Ween of the Royal Adelaide Hospital said that government regulation was urgently necessary.

“There are no regulations on the manufacturing of E-liquids. There are also no requirements to list the ingredients or their quantities.

“As such, no two ”apple”, ”chocolate” or ‘cotton candy” E-liquids will be made with the same flavouring ingredients or even concentrations. These are the things that we know can affect how unsafe a particular E-liquid is.”

In the US, e-cigarettes have come under fire after six vaping-related deaths.

The American Medical Association have urged e-cig users to stop using their devices until scientists understand the underlying cause of 450 lung illnesses and deaths linked to vaping.

AMA also called on doctors to inform their patients about the possible dangers of e-cigarettes.

Dr. Dilip Dhupelia, the president of the Australian Medical Association Queensland, said to The Courier Mail that companies were marketing the devices in a way that could cost lives.

“If we don’t stop this now, we will have the same epidemic as they are currently experiencing in the US, at great cost to our already overstretched health system in Queensland.”

One internet user commented: “I haven’t smoked for 20 years but I’d rather breathe second hand tobacco smoke than the ghastly flavoured capes. Vanilla or strawberry first thing in the morning outside the station is enough to make me gag.”

Another said: “Yes… Let’s regulate vaping because it “may have” led to 4 people’s deaths. But let’s not regulate tobacco companies and let’s carry on allowing them to put over 4000 chemicals into tobacco despite smoking having killed millions! Sounds reasonable!!!!”

A third wrote: “Vaping has been around for what, about 10 years and few reported problems. Then all of a sudden there are all kinds of problems…”
