Full English Breakfast Came Out On Top As UK’s Favorite Breakfast, According To A Survey


According to a new survey which was asked 2,000 18-30 year-olds across the UK 27 per cent, people claim the black pudding was the most unappealing aspect of the dish.

Some people even slammed the ‘lukewarm’ baked beans, sausages, and greasy bacon and 71 per cent of claimed they would gobble some smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, smashed avocado on toast, or oatmeal pancakes for breakfast.

In a statement about the survey, Ellie Glason, director of polling firm Ginger Research, who commissioned it, said: “The study found also that over half of young adults believe Britain is becoming more health conscious and shunning traditional English meals like fried breakfasts, bangers and mash and pie and chips.”

A poll which was held last year from Leonardo Hotels’ Great British Breakfast Survey, indicates 2,000 adults from across the UK surveyed about their breakfast habits.

They were asked which item they would want in their perfect fry-up, bacon was the most common answer. 66 per cent answered sausage, followed by toast (62 per cent), baked beans (57 per cent), a fried egg (53 per cent), hash browns (51 per cent) fried mushrooms (42 per cent), grilled tomatoes (40 per cent) and black pudding (29 per cent).

But the ol’ full English also took the top spot as the UK’s favorite breakfast.

“Despite the rise of trendy alternatives like shakshuka, huevos rancheros and smashed avocado, the good old-fashioned fry-up continues to reign supreme,” the Leonardo Hotels blog says.

“The ‘full English’ came out on top as the UK’s favorite breakfast, with 83 per cent of Brits saying they love this classic dish. It seems that as a nation, we still favor more traditional breakfast options, with cereal (81 per cent), a bacon sandwich (79 per cent), croissants and pastries (78 per cent), and pancakes (77 per cent) making up the rest of the top five.”
