The Rich List: FRIENDS Show Creators & Casts On How They Obtained Their Million-Dollar Fortune


In 2004, the six main Friends cast earned $900,000 per episode for the final series, and for this year’s reunion, they will be paid a whopping $2,9million EACH!

If you think that the six actors are the only ones who got their million dollars in, you’re wrong!

In a list from The Sun, the publication revealed the ‘Friend’s rich list’, and money expert Gemma Godfrey looked at how they obtained their fortune.

DAVID CRANE $401m

Crane, 63, is a producer and writer and created the sitcom Friends with friend Marta Kauffman. He also wrote the spin-off for the series titled ‘Joey’ and co-created BBC comedy ‘Episodes’ both starring Matt LeBlanc.

“David replicated a winning TV formula a few times,” Godfrey said.

MARTA KAUFFMAN $401m

Kauffman, 64, co-created ‘Friends,’ and made a sitcom for Netflix titled ‘Grace And Frankie’ and a legal documentary.

“Marta managed to cater to her existing audience with a new sitcom format as they got older,” Godfrey said.

JENNIFER ANISTON $300m

Film Magic

Aniston, 52, is reported to earn $7.7million per movie. The actress sold her haircare brand ‘Living Proof’ and has earned millions from endorsements.

“She has successfully monetized her girl-next-door image,” Godfrey said.

KEVIN BRIGHT $200m

Bright, 66, also and directed ‘Friends’ and ‘Joey.’ Despite the success, he quit TV for a teaching career when he divorced but later returned to producing and got back with his wife. He also sold his Malibu pad that made $12million in profit.

“He made a great return from property,” Godfrey said.

COURTENEY COX $150m

Cox, 56, has been in several shows and movies such as ‘Modern Family’, ‘Scrubs’ and ‘Scream movies’. Aside from acting, Cox also has a string of production credits, including the sitcom ‘Cougar Town’.

“She put her money behind shows to make them successful,” Godfrey stated.

MATTHEW PERRY $120m

When ‘Friends’ ended, Perry, 51, was seen in TV shows ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘Cougar Town’. However, real estate is his big earner. The sale of one his LA penthouse netted him $6.9million in profit.

“He turned TV income into property profits,” Godfrey said.

DAVID SCHWIMMER $100m

Schwimmer, 54, has been in Sky One’s ‘Intelligence’ and was the face of TSB. The actor has also voiced a giraffe in an animated film ‘Madagascar’ and starred in West End’s play ‘Some Girls’.

For him, creative control is more important,” Godfrey stated.

JON FAVREAU $100m

Favreau, 54, played Pete in Friends aka Monica’s millionaire boyfriend. The actor also has been behind the camera and directed two successful Iron Man movies, produced the Avengers franchise, and created The Mandalorian TV series.

“Stepping behind the camera has been his ticket to fortune,” Godfrey commented.

LISA KUDROW $89m

Kudrow, 57, starred in an online series ‘Web Therapy’ and is also the executive producer of the US version of Who Do You Think You Are? The actress’ also starred in a sitcom in 2005 titled ‘The Comeback’.

“She has branched out,” Godfrey said.

HANK AZARIA $89m

Azaria, 56, played David the scientist in Friends. He has earned $6.6million a year as one of the voice characters on The Simpsons. The actor also wrote an Amazon series titled ‘Brockmire’.

“Hank made most of his money using his voice,” Godfrey said.

MATT LEBLANC $79m

The Today Show

Le Blanc, 53, had a FRIENDS spin-off series titled ‘Joey’ and this netted him $15million. The former Top Gear host also starred in BBC sitcom ‘Episodes’ and was in a US comedy show ‘Man With A Plan’, where he was executive producer.

“He has stuck to roles that are similar,” Godfrey said.

COLE SPROUSE $79m

Sprouse, now 28, played Ross’s seven-year-old son Ben. The young actor was in the Nickelodeon series ‘The Suite Life Of Zack & Cody’ with his twin brother, Dylan Sprouse, and has launched spin-off products.

“He started work early and monetized his profile,” Godfrey stated.
