Two Friends ‘Got Married’ So They Could Throw A 150-Person Party, Leaving Their Parents Furious


Two schoolboys are now facing the wrath of their parents after they ‘got married’ so they could throw a 150-person party.

According to reports, the two students held a wedding at a mansion on Sydney’s Lower North Shore so they could bypass coronavirus restrictions and host a formal after-party for their friends.

But their photos quickly went viral and were seen by their shocked parents.

Their parents, who were away on a holiday, rushed back home to stop the after-party.

The furious father of one of the students described the incident as a ‘silly teenage idea’ and says no legally binding ceremony occurred.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, the father said: “We shut down the planned private celebratory event as soon as we found out about it, and thankfully, nobody was put at risk.

“Furthermore, we immediately engaged a security firm to ensure that if anyone tried to attend, they would be turned away – and no-one did actually turn up,” he added.

“Our son has apologised to our family, as well as to the other families who were involved, and we have made it clear to him how important compliance with the coronavirus restrictions is.”

The pair’s friend told the publication that the two had decided to get a marriage exemption as an excuse to have a party.

The problem was the first social media post, their address got leaked, it didn’t really eventuate, but it is a great story.”

The stunt gained more than 18,000 comments on social media, with many praising the pair’s creativity.
