Two Best Friends Hospitalized After Doing 1,000 Squats In One Go

Two Best Friends in China were competing with each other to do 1,000 squats in one go and after finishing it both were hospitalized.

Tang is a university student in Chongqing and her best friend lives in the province of Guangdong.

The 19-year-old said that she and her best friend carried out the challenge during a video call as they wanted to see which one of them had better stamina.

Girls decided to do squats to find out who could do 1,000. Both of them completed the challenge which for about three hours.

According to Chinese media, after a few both the girls felt unwell and taken to hospital where they diagnosed with a potentially fatal condition caused by muscle injury.

One of the girls Tang admitted that she did not have the habit of working out.

“I didn’t feel right as soon as I woke up. First of all, my legs felt achy and sore. What’s more? I couldn’t bend them,” she told Chongqing Evening News.

“Afterwards, I went to the toilet and saw my urine was as dark as tea.”

Tang said that she felt fine the first two days after the physical session. But on the third day, she fell ill.

She went to a local hospital with her boyfriend and claimed that her legs were hurting so much that she could not even be carried by her boyfriend. Tang moved slowly and reached the hospital on her own.

Doctors found she has a serious syndrome caused by muscle injury, known as rhabdomyolysis. They transferred her to Chongqing Emergency Medical Center.

Before being taken to the Emergency Intensive Care Unit, she was treated at the ER.

Doctor Li Ning at the medical center said: “The patient’s level of myoglobin was so high it exceeded the highest reading on the medical device.”

Dr. Li has warned people not to exercise excessively, especially when you suffer from a cold or virus infection.
