Todd Bol decided to honor his mother uniquely after her death in 2009.
As his mother was a teacher and a passionate reader, he decided to start a free library for people. He built a small box and filled it with various books and then fixed it on the front yard of his house in Hudson, Wisconsin.

He claimed that anyone who would love to read the books could feel free to. The neighbors were thrilled with the initiative, and also it was making a positive impact on the community so, Todd decided to continue the library.
A lot of people started loving this idea of a free library and started opening it on their backyards. The idea went viral all across the country, and it is benefiting a lot of people around.
According to the sources, 85 countries have adopted this idea of having an open library for people, and there are more than 75,000 of them.
There are different shapes and sizes of these libraries like robots, roosters, barns, birdfeeders, boxcars, and much more. People are opening these libraries in their lawns, local business areas, and even hospitals have them now.
The beneficial things about these libraries are that they are bringing the people from the community closer to each other, and it is the right way of spreading happiness around.
Such libraries are beneficial for people who cannot easily have access to books but love reading them.
Though Todd started this as a way to honor his mother, but now the whole idea has become viral, and people love it.
Todd also thought of making one library accessible to every 300 people and spread the word around. It is such a great initiative taken by Todd, and he has supporters who are ready to help him reach his goal.
